Santorini can be found on many a bucket list, and for good reason. This beautiful island located in the Aegean Sea is just under 30 square miles but that doesn’t mean there isn’t much to do or see. If you visit, I highly recommend staying in Fira as opposed to the more popular town of Oia. Not only are hotels in Fira, Santorini a fraction of the price, but so are the restaurants and activities. And although things are cheaper, it doesn’t mean the quality isn’t just as good.

The Best Place to Stay in Santorini
I believe Fira is the best place to stay in Santorini not just for the prices, but because of all it has to offer. This is the biggest town on the island of Santorini and offers array of restaurants, beautiful sea and town views, and gorgeous hotels. Just check out the 9 beautiful hotels in Fira, Santorini below:
1. Porto Fira Suites
If you want panoramic views of the Aegean Sea and Santorini cliffs, then you’ll want to stay at the Porto Fira Suites. This stunning hotel offers clean, minimal decor and plenty of outdoor seating spaces for patrons. Although Greece is a place where I spent most of my time outside, it’s still always nice to have a huge bed and beautiful room to come back to. The hot tubs are just an added bonus.
2. Hotel Thireas
A lot of tourists flock to Santorini hoping to stay in hotel rooms that resemble caves. Well if you’re looking for stone floors, walls, and ceilings, look no further than Hotel Thireas. I can only imagine it being the perfect temperature on a hot summer day in addition to it just being a cool looking room. This modern hotel used to be a traditional villa and one thing most of us are looking for on vacation is that authentic feel that’s true to the region.
3. Cosmopolitan Suites
Infinity pools are the last thing I think of when thinking of Greece, but it has a few and one is here at the Cosmopolitan Suites. Perfectly positioned on a cliff you will find this chic hotel with traditional Grecian touches. There is also free public parking within 5 minutes walking distance of the hotel so if you do decide to rent a car, this is one of the best places to stay.
4. Damigos Caldera World
The guesthouse of Damigos Caldera World is actually located in Firostefani, just a 10 minute walk from Fira. This means that the location isn’t directly in the heart of the bustling town which may be the preference of some. There are sun loungers to get a fresh tan with those guaranteed views of the islands and the sea. One of the best amenities is the airport shuttle so you don’t have to figure out how to get there, but there’s free parking if you’re feeling adventurous enough to rent a car.
5. Alta Vista Suites
This hotel is another that offers “cavern” style rooms in addition to more modern accommodations like the one pictured. There is also the option to book a more spacious suite that may suit your needs, especially those traveling as a family. In addition to family rooms, there is an airport shuttle and swimming pool for those days where you won’t want to trek to the beach.
6. Katikies Garden Santorini
If the grounds of the Katikies Garden Suites looks a little more luxe than the rest of the list, that’s because it is. You can tell from the pristine architecture of the courtyard and the glamorous finishes of the bathroom. With a 5 star rating you can also expect a higher price tag that’s well worth the money. There is valet parking, a concierge service, and even a currency exchange for guests. You won’t find that everywhere.
7. Agali Houses
If you are apart of that percentage of travelers that choose hotel rooms based on the bathroom, then look no further. The shower tile alone has me ready to head back to Santorini ASAP. Some of the rooms at the Agali come with their own hot tubs and swimming pools, so it may be worth the splurge to have your own relaxation areas with privacy. If not, there’s a beautiful pool for guests to utilize with stunning panoramic views.
8. Exclusive Plan Suites
What I love most about these suites is that each one feels like its own space. The stairs leading to every room and the private outdoor areas give the feel of having your own studio apartment tucked into the cliff. The best part is that all rooms and suites come with their own hot tub, although depending on your budget, some are more aesthetically pleasing than others.
9. Aressana Spa Hotel and Suites
Two words: the tub. If you’re in need of relaxation and want in house spa services, then Aressana is perfect for you. It’s one of my top picks for beautiful hotels in Fira, Santorini. The gorgeous pool is open until 11:00pm complete with a pool side snack bar. One thing I hate is working up an appetite at the pool and having to leave, and here you don’t have to. This hotel is located close to the bus station which is perfect for those looking for the budget friendly way to check out other towns on the island of Santorini.
