I don’t know if it’s me getting older and realizing that this skin won’t stay young and youthful forever, or the fact that my skin turned on me. Maybe it’s both. Yeah, that’s it. Either way, I’ve been making sure to stick to a skincare regimen that seems to be working. Well, it’s controlling the oil, if nothing else. I do have to admit that while summer is leaving us, my skin is a hell of a lot better than it was over the past few months. Or, my product usage is simply on fleek. Here are my current makeup and skincare favorites:
Let’s start with these timeless skincare products:
Months ago my mom re-gifted me some sample sizes of these products. When I realized that my then skincare regimen was a little too oily and heavy for the warmer months, I switched to these lighter weight products. The night serum was instantly my favorite because even though I wasn’t previously moisturizing at night due to always waking up with oily skin, I now wake up with little to no oil and I’m sure it’s due to this amazing serum.
I use the moisturizer every morning now more than ever. Just a dab goes a long way, especially when you don’t want to be blotting incessantly throughout the day. With both, the night serum and moisturizer, I use two drops of my Julep Rosehip Seed Facial Oil and my skin is flawless.
Yes, I am now a part of the mask gang. While I don’t use them everyday, or even several times a week like some, I do partake and see the benefits, especially as a frequent traveler. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve realized mid-flight that my skin is doing the absolute most and drying out well before we even land. Masks in flight and/or after are a perfect way to beat dryness in addition to staying more than hydrated. Here are the ones I’m currently hoarding:
Doll Face Beauty Refine Peel-Away Mask (similar)
The hydrate mask is perfect during or after flights if your skin is as prone to dryness as mine. The illuminating mask is great for random mornings or when you land. I know on my next trip, once I arrive at my hotel and am unpacking/gearing up to head out on the town, I plan to use this mask to bring some life into my face. The detox mask is great after heavy makeup usage OR once returning from a trip. I’d use it along with the Doll Face peel-away mask, which I also happen to use every Sunday to simply cleanse the gunk of the previous week from my face.
NOW ON TO THE MAKEUP…
I could totally watch youtube beauty guru’s all day, every day and not learn a damn thing. You may have noticed that from my GRWM Chit Chat that went horribly wrong. However, I know that these are some great products and even though I haven’t mastered the concealer aspect, I still use all of these. Yes, sometimes together, haha.
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation (similar)
I can’t tell you how shocked I was that this foundation matched my skin perfectly! I wear it without the additives (concealer and such) because I’m not a pro at that yet, but also because I sometimes want my skin to have that perfect look like I don’t have makeup. I’m always amazed at how oily my skin ISN’T with this foundation. The concealer does it’s job, but when it comes to highlighting and contouring (something I haven’t mastered) I can’t speak on it. When it comes to the loose powder, which I’m sure I ordered too dark, it especially came in handy because I originally applied way too much concealer to my face and this powder came through to darken some super ashy, light spots.
